**My thoughts**
Right off the bat, you feel empowered by looking at the cover. This young girl is just oozing self-confidence and self-love and it is beautiful to see. The illustrations of the other children throughout the rest of the book also exude happiness and joy.

The first page of the story is a little long, but is just an introduction that serves as sort of the start of a conversation with the child. The meat of the book has simpler text that is easier to read and digest and is printed on a background of peaceful colors and stars, again radiating happiness.

It is a little on the long side but doesn't have to be read all in one sitting at first. It's a story that can be revisited time and time again and can inspire children to define themselves on different levels. I would love to use this in my classroom or with other young children in my life.

Thank you to the publishing company and Goddess Fish for sending me a requested review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

**My thoughts**
This book actually transported me back to my childhood. I grew up on an acre of land and adopted chunks of our yard and gardens for myself, thanks to my parents. And I remember doing a lot of the same things that Chelsea does as I absorbed the natural world around me. I can feel Chelsea's love through her observations of her special outdoor place and it brings me peace as I remember mine. The beautiful illustrations help to bring all of those feelings to life as well.

I love this book as an introduction to kids about the beauty of the outdoors. I think it also serves as a reminder to adults that we can have our special places in person or in our minds to help us find that inner peace we all need in our crazy lives.

Thank you to the publisher for a requested review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Review of A Farm Animals' Christmas! (No Ordinary Farm) by Stephanie Matolyak and Deborah Bailey

Rescued farm animals come to life in a magical celebration of Christmas. It all starts with the first Thanksgiving feast on the farm. The fun time continues when the farm animals go to a Christmas party. After making snow wings and decorating the barn for the holidays, it’s time for the farm animals to go to bed while magical things begin to happen... not only reindeer can fly at this magical time of the year. Fun! Magical! Entertaining!

**My thoughts**
What stands out to me the most with this book are the illustrations. They brought a smile to my face and elicited a chuckle here and there. They're collages of real photos of real animals and some remind me of those candid shots on cameras that are posted outside. I think they are so much fun and are the biggest draw.

The story itself is simple, following the animals on the farm from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Thought bubbles illustrate what the animals may be thinking. I think when reading this book with young children, I would probably skip over some of those unless it was a one-on-one reading session and they wanted to know what they said. They'd make more sense to older children.

It's not going to top my Christmas classics list, but it is fun to look through the pictures and to talk about what's going on in them. And I appreciate that they are all real animals who have been rescued. The authors help to make the book more interactive by encouraging readers to go back and find each animal. I'd recommend getting a print copy!

Thank you to the publisher for sending me a requested review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

About the authors:

About Stephanie Matolyak

Stephanie is a top rated Realtor in northeastern PA. For many years she has been living her dream on a farm in the country. She brings her “Personal Touch” to her real estate business by creating an annual Christmas card based on her farm which all of her clients look forward to every year. “a farm animals’ christmas!-no ordinary farm” is a culmination of these Christmas card masterpieces over the years.

Her clients, their families and friends enjoy visits to Stephanie's Farm, interacting with a large assortment of animals that

Stephanie has rescued. Real Estate and animals are her passion and they both flourish in this amazingly beautiful northeastern, PA environment.

Originally from Johnstown, PA, Stephanie grew up as a competitive gymnast. She then moved to New York City to pursue her study of dance, acting and the big stage! The new aerobic dance craze took Stephanie to Italy, opening aerobic studios throughout Italy. Upon returning to NYC, Stephanie worked with developers designing and managing private health clubs in the new high-rise condominium buildings.

As a business owner of "Spa Finders" came an exciting career in the health spa industry, publishing a magazine and setting up spa networks around the world.

Throughout her different careers, Stephanie enjoyed investing in real estate. Among one of her purchases was her farm in NE PA which she used as a weekend getaway from Manhattan. Soon it became harder to leave this paradise to go back to the city, thus she stayed and started her very successful real estate career and the procession of rescued animals.

About Deborah Bailey

Deborah Bailey and her design agency have received many graphic design awards and honors over the years. She is the creative artist behind Stephanie Matolyak’s custom “Stephanie’s Farm” annual Christmas Cards for her real estate business. Teaming up with Stephanie Matolyak to write and illustrate A Farm Animals’ Christmas; No Ordinary Farm was just a natural fit for her. With her love of graphic design and animals, especially her dog Petey, a Chiweenie, who she rescued in 2016, Deborah sets the backdrop of A Farm Animals’ Christmas; No Ordinary Farm, with silly photo illustrations bringing any young reader into the world of rescued animals having a good time and waiting for Christmas. Every page is brimming with color and her collages of “real” pictures of animal action, with delightfully funny scenes.

Deborah has sat on many business and non-profit organizational boards throughout her career, currently sits on the Board of Trustees of Lackawanna College, volunteers in her community, and owns and publishes a Pocono Mountain, PA favorite entertainment and recreation magazine since 1998.

Review of Mr. Flopsy Whispers From God: A Lesson on Being Still by Christi Eley

Mr. Flopsy, Whispers from God is an early reader storybook that shares the simple message and guidance from a pet bunny to help your child find stillness and peace. By connecting with animals, children learn to see and hear God’s love and feel secure as they learn to be quiet, patient, brave and trusting. Written in a rhythmic bouncy script, Mr. Flopsy, Whispers from God: A Lesson on Being Still provides a platform for your child to begin their own relationship with God and is reaffirmed by the gentle words and affirmations of God’s love through the Bible verse “Be still and Know that I am God” Psalm 46:10. Join Mr. Flopsy on this heartwarming adventure that will inspire your child for a lifetime!

**My thoughts**
We've all known kids like Cam. I definitely had them in my classroom. They're loud and constantly moving. Sometimes they're called something like "a bull in a china shop." Adults in their lives can get frustrated, but the child doesn't necessarily understand why their behavior is being considered problematic.

Cam's friend Mr. Flopsy, I'm guessing his pet bunny, tries to help him understand by teaching him about the Bible verse "Be still and know that I am God." Mr. Flopsy teaches him basic meditation skills, trying to think of calm things to work toward keeping his body still. And then they move into some other childhood worries, such as being scared, needing to feel safe, and worrying. It reminded me of conversations with my mother when I was little and her teaching me a prayer to help me calm down. There really are some good lessons in here.

But I need to remind readers that sometimes there are deeper reasons for a child's behavior and sometimes lessons like these are not going to be enough. But in Cam's case, it's probably enough. You have to observe the child and try to get to the root of the behavior.

I do love the illustrations in this book. Cam and Mr. Flopsy really come to life and you can feel the love. They also help with providing ideas for what to think of when in meditation or prayer.

I think this could be a good springboard for conversation in a family setting to be used with other tools.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a requested review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Review of Epic Life by Jon Dougherty, illustrated by Bonnie Lemaire

What starts out as a regular day for this boy and his mom turns into a life lesson about finances and how to truly have an epic life. Read an excerpt and my book review of Epic Life by Jon Doughtery. Be sure to follow the tour for more! Best of luck in the giveaway!

Teaching our next generation about financial freedom so that they can have an epic life is so important. Tatum and his mom are going to show you how to get there in a fun and creative way. Follow them on this journey by planting your own money trees so that we can grow wealth. Let us break old financial habits and create new ones. By doing this we must act differently than everyone else in order to have an epic life.

Read an excerpt:
After anxiously waiting for his mom to be done, Tatum finally got to ask her. . . .

“Instead of giving that lady OUR money, why don’t we get rid of that rusty old car and buy the new Turbo Sport 3000, like Mr. D over there?”

“He-he-he,” his mom giggled. She calmly replied, “Let me show you.”

After driving for what felt like infinity hours to Tatum, they arrived at . . . an apple orchard?!

The rusty old car stopped. Tatum asked, “What does a Turbo Sport 3000 have to do with apples?”

“He-he-he,” his mom giggled and said, “come with me, and I’ll explain everything.”

PURCHASE LINKS
(affiliate links included)

**My thoughts**
This is cute story about a boy and his mom doing a pretty basic errand that leads into a great explanation of the importance of saving money. After Tatum sees a man withdraw his whole savings to buy a fancy sports car, Tatum wants one for his family. Instead, his mother finds a clever way to explain the concept of savings to him by going to an apple orchard. I really liked the way she explained it to him and thought it was quite creative. We often have to think outside the box to help kids understand these more abstract comments.

I also really liked the illustrations. They were fun and truly added to the story.

The only thing for me was the mom constantly giggling before she spoke. I know we often giggle a bit when having conversations with our kids. It just didn't hit my ears right and reminded me of one of the Muppets or something and not as realistic as a parent. BUT that is just me and is not enough to detract from the story, nor would I have that be a reason to not share this book.

And I think this would be a great book to read at home prior to discussions with your kids. And I think it would work well in the classroom as a part of a money unit. It is a fun book.

Thank you to Goddess Fish and the author and publisher for providing me with a requested review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

God Hugs My House at Night by Gina Collins Weaver, illustrated by Bren Riddle

Night time can be a particularly scary time for children. They experience the bumps in the night, the imagined monsters under the bed and a sense of powerlessness. Often, these factors make fear inevitable and sleep elusive.

Children need their fears acknowledged and validated. They should know God is there no matter what they fear or where they lay their heads at night. In a modest home, a hospital room, a makeshift shelter or an opulent mansion, God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent (an almighty God who is present in all places, seeing all things).

Knowing God is there brings comfort to a child and imagining God hugging their dwelling can stimulate their imagination and foster a sense of security.

Children understand hugs and God Hugs My House at Night assures them they are not alone. Children can feel empowered and brave; not because fear is not real, but because God is also real. He remains no matter where you dwell or lay your head, how dark the circumstances or how dark the night.

"Be strong and have strength of heart. Do not be afraid or shake with fear because of them. For the Lord your God is the One Who goes with you. He will be faithful to you. He will not leave you alone.” Deuteronomy 31:6

About Gina Collins Weaver
I was born in Dover, Delaware, but I have lived most of my life in the south (Alabama). My mom was an elementary school teacher and my father was an Air Force serviceman. As an Air Force brat, I moved around often. We changed cities, states and countries, but I was too young to remember most of it. However, one of my earliest memories is of books in our home. They were everywhere.

And so the love affair began. I love books; especially children's books. I have maintained that love, as a mother, who has bought hundreds of books for my two daughters to enjoy. When they were in elementary and middle school, I always looked forward to volunteering at their school's yearly book fair. It was a wonderful way to spend extra time with my girls, but also allowed me the opportunity to peruse the book stands for the newest books as well as the tried and true classics. I would pick out books for my girls and looked forward to their book choices. I would buy too many books, along with bookmarks, etc, but it was worth it. Today both my daughters love to read!

Reading is a wonderful experience and books are an amazing vehicle for a child's imagination. Reading helps children create the pictures that affect their world. Characters can become friends, ideas can become beliefs and concepts can become comfort.

I imagined being an author one day and now I am.

I am also a wife and mother of two. I majored in Sociology and minored in Psychology in college. I have worked for a Nonprofit Youth Development Organization for over 25 years. I write whenever there is a pen and paper available and although God Hugs My House at Night is my first published book, I have numerous books inside me screaming to get out!

I hope God Hugs My House at Night will bless you!

Cardinal Fun Facts: Fun Facts on Birds for Kids by Michelle Hawkins

Do you know that Cardinals are the only bird with a crest in the United States?

And do you know that every little habit of this little bird can become a story to tell?

It is sometimes difficult to make our children understand the beauty of nature, to make them appreciate the small things, the beauty of a flower, the freshness of the air, the scent of grass. Many times we are not fortunate to be in contact with nature, far from a meadow, closed in the cities, but so often while being able to look out from our balcony in a beautiful country house, we know how to observe but do not appreciate the beauty of creation.

Know the details and habits of a bird as common as it is surprising, through a simple path and that fuels the interest and curiosity of your child. That's the purpose of this book.

But beware, prepare for the challenge!

You will have to be able to answer the questions that your child will ask you by showing off their deep knowledge in the microworld of the Cardinals:

•Mom, do you know the states where the Cardinal is the state bird? I do!
•Hey dad, do you know if both male and female Cardinals sing? I do!
•Grandpa, do you know how much a Cardinals weighs? I do!
•Grandma, do you know how many eggs Cardinals lay in their nest? I do!
•Sarah, you're my big sister and you've studied a lot, but I bet you don't know the Cardinals favorite seed! I know that.

You don't need anything else, just one click on "Buy Now" and you will let your child live a magical new adventure with his new friend Cardinals and the magic natural world of songbirds.
