Review of Read and Learn Toddler Bible and DVD
Gwen Ellis takes the most important stories from the Bible and turns them into simple lessons for young children in her Read and Share Toddler Bible. With colorful illustrations by Steve Smallman, the book will be attractive to the little ones, even through preschool and kindergarten. Each story only covers a few pages, keeping it short enough to maintain a young attention span. At the end of each story is a blurb giving parents follow-up activity and conversation ideas that reinforce the idea presented, as well as providing some quality together-time.
Pages are thicker than usual books, though not board book strength, which could be an issue for really young readers. The sturdy cover can be easily wiped with a damp cloth in the event of a spill.
Accompanying the book is an hour-long DVD that expands upon the stories in the Toddler Bible. The animated characters are the same as the illustrations in the book, so the child can relate the two. Again, the vivid colors will attract the young viewer.
Ideally, one story can be shared each day, as an afternoon treat, or sleepytime story to teach the child about God’s love.
